Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Obiri Boahen has said that although he would personally not endorse the use of unprintable words by political commentators, former President John Dramani Mahama’s petition to the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service is “fundamentally flawed”.

The former president is asking the police service to investigate murder allegations made against him by the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC.

In the said letter, his lawyer, Tony Lithur said Abronye DC has accused his client, John Dramani Mahama and some members of the NDC of planning to assassinate some members of the NPP.

“My instructions are that in a recording on a TV programme on Net 2 TV, Madina, Accra which has been circulating on various social media platforms including Facebook and Whatsapp platforms, Abronye made certain false claims alleging a plot masterminded by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to assassinate some NPP personalities including he, Abronye DC, himself…”.

However reacting to the concerns of the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, the deputy general secretary of the governing party told Blessed Sogah, host of Class FM’s State of the National programme that the NDC must also take interest in ordering followers of John Mahama including Kevin Taylor and a pro-opposition radio station Power FM, to desist from their continuous attack on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumiah and other members of the NPP.

MTN OFFICE CLOSED DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE . INFORMATION MINISTER

The MTN office at Dansoman Zodiac was closed down on Monday by the Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, following customers’ total disregard for social distancing amidst the Coronavirus outbreak in Ghana.

Earlier, Celebrities Buzz reported on how Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful stormed their premises to fire shots at them.

Ursula aftermath ordered the closure of the office until further notice.

In a twist of even, MTN Ghana has promised to enforce social distancing in all their facilities.

In an interview with richnewsnetwork.news.blog, Corporate Services Executive of MTN, Samuel Koranteng, said his outfit will ensure that the social distancing protocols are strictly adhered to.

“We are currently doing some internal risk assessment to put in place measures in terms of the seating.

We are looking at probably enhancing the security levels outside our shops.

At the Dansoman office, it was just one security officer trying to help with ensuring the social distancing measures. But then we will change the infrastructure outside the shop so that it encourages and allows the enforcement of the social distancing directives much better going forward,” he said.

SEVEN MEMBER SUPREME COURT COMMITTEE TO SIT ON 2.25 BILLION BOND

A seven-member panel of the Supreme Court presided over by Chief Justice Anin Yeboah will today deliver judgment in the suit against the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, on the issuance of a 2.25 billion bond.

This was after the apex court had earlier refused an application from the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice seeking leave to amend their statement of case.

The judgement fixed for April 22, 2020, was adjourned to today by the panel for its decision.

The panel includes Justice Jones Dotse, Justice Sule Gbadegbe, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, Justice Yaw Appau, Justice Gabriel Pwamang, Justice Samuel Marfo-Sau and Justice Prof Nii Ashie Kotey.

The Dynamic Youth Movement of Ghana (DYMOG) dragged the Finance Minister, CHRAJ, and Attorney General to the Supreme Court over CHRAJ’s investigations into the $2.25 billion Bond issuance in March 2017.

The movement is demanding interpretation of Articles 284, 286, and six other reliefs.

Black Stars striker and ex-captain Asamoah Gyan regrets his decision to play through the pain barrier at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.

Gyan was not at his prolific best due to an injury he was carrying and got pilloried for his sterility.

The criticisms from fans severely hit the then 22-year-old who felt unappreciated after making a huge sacrifice.

He parked his bag to leave camp but rescinded his decision after talks with the Ghana president JA Kuffour.

According to Gyan, playing in his first Nations Cup tournament aggravated his injury which denied him a move to Manchester City.

”I regret playing at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, because I was injured but I felt I needed to sacrifice but yet I was criticized,” Gyan said on GTV’s Sports Highlights show.

”I really regret playing in the tournament, because even after that I had to go out for five months.

”I was supposed to sign for Manchester City but I missed. That has been one of my biggest regrets with the national team.”

Gyan scored just one goal at the tournament- a penalty in the tournament opener against Guinea.

The former Sunderland later featured in six other Africa Cup of Nations and is the country’s top scorer in tournament history with eight goals.

ASH REG TO GET 4 OVERHEAD. HON AMOAKO ATTA

Briefing the media in Kumasi ahead of the Ministry of Roads and Highways tour of the Ashanti Region, the minister disclosed, the technical team from the ministry is almost done with a primary feasibility study into the project.


He disclosed that government has 156 different road projects currently ongoing in the Region. Adding that ring road will be constructed to ease movement for people travelling from Accra to the North and vice versa, who do not have anything to do in Kumasi.

He enlisted the projects “the following bypasses shall be undertaken as a measure of creating additional travel option for commuters and also improving the capacity of the network.

This is for completion of the inner ring road of Kumasi. This is the completion of the inner ring road between timber garden through ahodwo, santease roundabout and onto the sofo line interchange.

We also have what we call Kumasi after the ring road. Feasibility studies for the Kumasi after ring road is currently ongoing.”

“Arrangements are being discussed to construct the section of the ring road between Ejisu on the N6 and Opimso on the N10. And this is a very important project of the government and it will substantially reduce traffic in Kumasi.”

He added “so all those travelling from Accra to the northern part of the country and vice versa who do not have anything to do in Kumasi. Will have to use these after ring roads. 156 different road projects are currently going on the Ashanti region and are being undertaken by strong major contractors.”

Education Minister, Dr. Mattew Opoku Prempeh has disclosed government’s plans for the education sector during Covid-19.

Speaking on 3 FM, honorable Matthew Prempeh said that All education has moved on to distance learning and that Covid-19 has brought education to the 21st century level.

He added that The GES, Ministry of Education has a standing committee to come out with ideas and other strategies to make sure our education doesn’t come to a halt because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The GES intends to roll out radio, tv & online programs virtually from KG to SHS so that education can continue.

Addressing the issue on when exactly the restrictions on Schools will be eased he stressed that the government is slowly easing restrictions but the bans are still extended. I don’t see any time soon for the ban on schools to be lifted.

He added that Opening schools will bring back a lot of movement into the country. Many are suggesting we open schools in phases. We’ll see how we can manage that. A lot of planning is going on.

Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the deputy minister of Education speaking on the issue at a sister station commended individuals who are using innovative ways to help our students who are in the house now.

He added that When school resumes lectures are going to pick up from where we left off and that lessons taught on the distance education platforms will have no bearing on actual classroom work.

Following the coronavirus lockdown in the greater Kumasi by government over the spread of the virus, Asante Kotoko Youngest Queen mother’s association Ghana has distributed food items worth of thousands of Ghana cedis to the branch of Ghana Blind Union in Kwabere.

The items running into hundreds of thousands of Ghana Cedis included bags of rice,litres of cooking oil, tins of sardines, Spaghetti and drinking waters meant to help the beneficiaries cope with life due to the lockdown at Asromaso Nkwanta palace.

Nana Ama Nyarko Sompahemaa of Sekyere said, what inspired them most is His Royal Majesty feeding millions of people in Asanteman . He has set a good pace for the Asante Kotoko Youngest Queen mother’s to follow.

We also entreat all NGOs, individuals and cooperate entities to frequent visits Ghana Blind Union and Persons with Disabilities with any little thing they have, she said.

Nana Ama Nyarko Sekyere Sompahemaa who led the queenmothers in the distribution of the food items said, as a result of the lockdown some blind and persons with disability are faced with basic challenges due to restrictions of movement and it was high time the affluent also played their part at this trying moment.

Sekyere Sompahemaa Nana Ama Nyarko further announced the distribution exercise will be extended to benefit the aged people of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region very soon

Nana Ama Nyarko said “Obviously, the temporary break of businesses during the lockdown period, will adversely affect the people with disabilities especially the Blind peoples, hence their aged’s mite to give them a cushion in these trying times,” she said.

“The donation is to send a clear message to Ghanaians about the need for us to unite; stay positive; do not panic; remain strong, and be each other’s keeper in these trying times, which will definitely pass soon,” she added.

Nana Ama Nyarko , Sompahemaa of Sekyere also used the opportunity to admonish Ghanaians to stay at home, practice social distancing and uphold all other directives vfrom health experts, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

She therefore laud the Government for the effort and good measures he has put in place to fight against the covid19 .

She expressed worried over how the blind Union has been neglected over the distribution of relief items like foods ,hand sanitizer and nose mask.

Some the beneficiaries were Ghana Blind Union and Persons with Disabilities overwhelmed with joy and expressed gratitude to the Asante Kotoko Youngest Queen mother’s association for the kind support and wished them well pointing out it has brought big relief to them.

The blind Union urged the government to come to their aid since hunger will even killed them before Coronavirus pandemic.

The items included boxes of alcohol-based hand Sanitizers and Veronica buckets in Atwima Mponua constituency to curb the spread of the virus.

The aged benefits

The beneficiaries of the items were some health facilities in the Municipality, opinion leaders, the aged, individuals, ”Trotro” and taxi stations.

Ms Augustina Osei Asare , who has vowed to unseat the incumbent MP and the sports minister speaking to richnewsnetwork.news.blog, said “as part of my contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m donating these alcohol based hand sanitisers and Veronica buckets to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the Atwima Mponua Constituency.

She added that, “ I wish I could donate to all the major Hospitals, towns, market and public places in my Constituency”. The beneficiaries also expressed their joy and gratitude for the items received , particularly the sanitisers since it’s become difficult to afford even if there’s the ability to purchase.
