A KUMERICAN, GYATABA DARE PRESIDENT AKUFFO ADDO TO ACCOUNT TO ASANTEMAN.

Nana Agyenim Boateng. Gyataba

A proud Kumerican, Nana Agyenim Boateng, President for Concern Youth of Asante (CYA) has questioned President Akuffo Addo and for that matter NPP pinpoint any monumental development they have done for the people of Asanteman.

Nana Agyenim aka “gyataba” said on Tuesday that the chunk of votes received by NPP from Ashanti region making it one of the strong holds of the party doesn’t match the level of development that residents are currently seeing.

He set the record straight that what the NPP onky does is taking the resources of Asanteman to develop other regions that are of their interest especially Akyim-Kyebi.

“Is it not interesting for Nana Addo to establish a movie theater at Akyim-Kyebi where not even a single soul in the area is known to be an actor or actress whereas we have the likes of Lil-Wyn, Kwaku Manu, Kyeiwaa, Mercy Asiedu, Kwadwo Poku Mahala, Agya Koo, just to mention but a few who are struggling to even rent hotels for good movies.

“Ladies and gentlemen, as a group who is determined to fight for the progress and development of Asante man, we hereby challenge the good people in the Ashanti region to compare and contrast the kind of votes that are given out to the NPP and the kind of development we receive in an exchange whever NPP is in power and do same to the NDC…

We say on record that per our checks, since 1992, NDC has achieved alot in terms of physical development projects in the Ashanti region than the NPP but receive less of its votes”, he indicated.

“It’s about time we think and re-think about the kind of party we sacrifice our votes for as a native of Asante.”

According to “gyataba” the NPP only deceive Asanteman when they need votes “and dump us when we cry for development. We are now wise and can no longer be deceived by the self-seeking Nana Addo’s government and the NPP”.

Addressing the media in Kumasi, he dared the NPP to prove to the region what they have done in the region within a grace period of 7 days or face their wrath.

Harry Maguire has been given a suspended prison sentence of 21 months and 10 days after being found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts of bribery.

Henry Maguire

The sentence will be suspended because it is a first offence and charges were misdemeanours. His team have said they will appeal.

Maguire was convicted of all the charges against him by a court on the island of Syros.

He was arrested with his brother and a friend after a fight broke out while he was on holiday in Mykonos over claims his sister was injected with a suspected “rape drug”

Maguire said: “Following the hearing today, I have instructed my legal team with immediate effect to inform the courts we will be appealing.

“I remain strong and confident regarding our innocence in this matter – if anything myself, family and friends are the victims.”

Speaking after the verdict, the lawyer who assisted the prosecution told Sky News the victims are still waiting for an apology.

He said: “When you’re a sportsman and a role model you have to accept what you’ve done and say sorry.

“Until today, we haven’t had that – they have said it’s all the fault of the policeman.

“This was not accepted by the court. The victims and the policeman were assaulted. The only thing they want is an apology.”

He said the victims were “totally appalled” by Maguire and his co-defendants’ behaviour.

Manchester United said in a statement: “Manchester United notes the verdict of the Greek court today. Harry Maguire pleaded not guilty to all of the misdemeanour charges made against him and he continues to strongly assert his innocence.

“It should be noted that the prosecution confirmed the charges and provided their evidence late on the day before the trial, giving the defence team minimal time to digest them and prepare. A request for the case to be adjourned was subsequently denied.

“On this basis, along with the substantial body of evidence refuting the charges, Harry Maguire’s legal team will now appeal the verdict, to allow a full and fair hearing at a later date.”

The prosecution alleged that once Maguire, who has been named in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad despite the ongoing court case, arrived at a police station, he said: “Do you know who I am? I am the captain of Manchester United, I am very rich, I can give you money, I can pay you, please let us go.”

Plain clothes police officers intervened to try calm the situation, but the “English men” did not, and one of the defendants said “f, f the police” and one punched an officer, it was claimed.

The trial went ahead against the wishes of Maguire’s defence team, with his lawyer Alexis Anagnostakis telling the court in Syros that two Albanian men had approached Maguire’s sister Daisy – who fainted immediately after being injected with an unknown substance.

They called for transport and asked to be driven to hospital, but were instead taken to a police department.

Mr Anagnostakis alleged that Maguire was then kicked in the leg by police officers who told him: “Your career is over.”

The defence argued they were breaking away to make a phone call. But the police officer said he did not see them make one.

The court heard one officer received first aid while trying to make an arrest, because Maguire got angry when he realised he was handcuffed and tried to break away.

The officer who handcuffed Maguire said the footballer pushed him hard, causing him to fall backwards and hurt his back and suffer a leg injury. He said he was injected with painkillers and took the next day off to recover.

A third police officer gave a similar account of events in court.

Earlier, Mr Anagnostakis said the list of charges was finalised on Monday, so he only received a hard copy of the file on Tuesday morning – two hours before the trial.

Maguire, who was not present in court, pleaded not guilty, denying charges of aggravated assault and attempted bribery of an official.

NDC IS NOT GOOD FOR GHANA – Chairman Inusah.

Chairman Inusah

A senior member of the Ruling New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region, Mr Seidu Rashid Inusah, popularly known as Chairman Inusah has stated that the National Democratic party (NDC) is not good for Ghana and can never be good for Ghana.

According to Chairman Inusah, the erstwhile Mahama led administration has destroyed the gains that were chocked by the NPP’s Kuffour led administration and dissipated the success stories in every sector of the economy.

He said “H.E. John Dramani Mahama can best be described as a destroyer since all the things he (JDM) laid his hands on were destroyed”.

Chairman Inusah said this on a Kumasi based radio station, Ultimate 106.9FM during an evening political show dubbed ‘Fact File’ on the 13th of August 2020.

He tabulated a number of sectors that the Mahama Administration has destroyed.

Notable amongst them were the energy crisis which he maintained that the late President John Mills didn’t hand over a dumso economy to JDM, and that dumso was a Mahama’a creation, the NHIA that was swallowed in debt, the credit rating of Ghana, the cancellation of the teacher training allowance and even the Financial sector crisis which he said the former president Mahama had admitted that his appointee (the then governor of the BoG), looked on when the problems were being created with impunity. He also recounted that the NDC’s review of a policy means cancellation since it was the NDC that cancelled the Four years of SHS and brought it back to Three years.

He is therefore calling on Ghanaians not to make mistake by voting for incompetent JDM in the upcoming 2020 election because JDM will cancel the Free Senior High School education introduced by his party, the NPP..

He said the NDC has never believed in the FSHS thing and has made it known to Ghanaians in several fora and platforms,he said.
