The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sacked its Member of Parliament for the Fomena Constituency Hon. Amoako Andrew Asiamah.
A statement from the party which was signed by the General Secretary said “The Party has noted that the Member of Parliament for the Fomena Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Amoako Andrew Asiamah, who was elected to Parliament on the ticket of the Party, has filed to contest as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate. By so doing, he has presumably vacated his Seat in Parliament pursuant to Article 97(1)(g) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic”.
The statement indicated that the Party has taken steps to inform the leadership of Parliament for the appropriate actions to be taken.
Also, the party warned that any member of the party who will support an independent candidate in their campaign will also lose their member of the party.
It used the opportunity to commend members of the party who listened to the counsel of the party and rescinded their decision to contest as independent candidates.
